Cancellation Policy

At Switch Society, our mission is to make fashion fun, sustainable, and stress-free through a shared closet model that keeps hundreds of thousands of garments in circulation and out of landfills. Our cancellation and pause policy ensures clarity for our members and consistency for the shared closet system.

This policy applies to all membership tiers.

1. How To Cancel Your Membership

To cancel, please send an email to:

Your email must include:

  • Your full name
  • Email address for the account you intend to cancel.
  • Phone number
  • Your membership tier
  • Whether you are on a monthly or annual plan

We cannot accept cancellations in-store, by phone, text, or social media.
This ensures accurate processing and protects your account.

2. 30-DAY CANCELLATION WINDOW

Switch Society requires a 30-day written cancellation notice to the email listed above.

Your 30-day window begins the day we receive your email.

Monthly Memberships

  • You will be billed one final time on your next scheduled renewal date.
  • You will continue to have full membership access for the entire paid period.
  • Your membership will officially close at your following renewal date.

Example:
Cancellation requested: December 3
Next billing date: December 11
Access continues: December 11 → January 11
Membership ends: January 11

Annual Memberships

Your membership will remain active until the end of your annual term.
No additional annual payments will be charged and auto-renewal will be shut off.

3. NO BAG DROP-OFFS AFTER CANCELLATION IS SUBMITTED

Once your cancellation request is received: 🚫 You may no longer bring in bags or items for processing. Inventory processing involves significant time and labor, and we can only accept items from active members.

4. POINTS DURING CANCELLATION

  • You may use your remaining points until your membership end date.
  • Any unused points expire once your membership ends.

5. PAUSING YOUR MEMBERSHIP

If you need a temporary break, you may pause your membership instead of canceling.

Pausing allows you to:
✓ Keep your points
✓ Keep your membership tier name & account active
✓ Resume later without paying a new joining fee
✓ Maintain continuous membership status

Pause Details

  • Pausing is $5 per month
  • You may pause up to 3 times per calendar year
  • Each pause may last up to 2 consecutive months
  • Pauses may be used back-to-back
  • When resuming, you return at the current membership pricing

Pausing is a great option if you want to maintain your point balance and avoid restarting your membership later.

6. JOINING & REJOINING FEE

All new memberships include a one-time $25 joining fee. This fee also applies when rejoining after a cancellation. Members who choose to pause their membership do not pay this fee upon returning.

7. VALUE-BASED MEMBERSHIP MODEL

A Switch membership is designed to offer significant value even with just a few visits per year. The national average price for thrifted clothing is $16.67 per item, and most members recoup their entire monthly membership value in one or two visits.

Membership also supports:

  • the processing of tens of thousands of items monthly
  • sustainable circulation of clothing
  • reducing textile waste
  • maintaining a fun, welcoming, shared closet for the community

Your membership is an investment in value, impact, and sustainability — not frequency of visits or usage. Your membership allows you to budget and experience another level of conscious consumerism and continue shopping for new things as often as you want or need to.

8. REJOINING AFTER CANCELLATION

If you cancel and later wish to return:

  • You will rejoin at current membership pricing
  • You will pay the one-time joining fee again
  • Your account will begin with zero points
  • If a tier is full, you may be placed on a waitlist

9. ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • No refunds are provided for processed payments.
  • Annual members may switch to monthly when their annual term ends.
  • Final renewal payments must process for cancellation to be completed.
