Community Event
No membership. No points. No cost. Just clothing that needs a new home and a community ready to give it one.
Find the Next EventWhat It Is
Family Swap is Switch Society's free community clothing event, open to absolutely everyone. No membership required. No points. No shopping cart. You just come, take what you need, and leave knowing those pieces are going to be used.
It's where the overflow goes. Members bring in men's and children's clothing throughout the year, and three times a year we open the doors to the whole community and give it all away. No limits on what you can take. No questions asked.
We host Family Swap at off-site locations: churches, community centers, and other spaces that can hold a crowd. The goal is simple: get clothing back into the hands of people who will use it.
Who Shows Up
Family Swap draws a wide mix of people, and that's exactly the point. Every item finds its purpose.
Parents stocking up on kids' clothes, back-to-school essentials, and everyday basics for the whole household.
Creatives who transform clothing into something entirely new. They see potential where others see end-of-life.
Fabric hunters who break pieces down for material. A worn-out shirt becomes part of something beautiful.
Construction workers, painters, and others who need durable work clothing — because nobody wants to ruin good pieces on the job.
Organizations serving unhoused individuals and underserved families who come to stock up for the people they support.
Neighbors who just want to find something great. No agenda, no membership, just people who appreciate a good find.
How It Works
Find your nearest Family Swap event and come during open hours. No registration, no ticket, no membership card needed.
Men's, women's, and children's clothing. Items in great shape alongside pieces ready for a second life as fabric, rags, or raw material.
No limits. No cost. Fill a bag, fill a box, bring a truck if you need to. We count what goes out so we can track our impact.
Whatever you take, use it. Wear it, make something from it, give it to someone who needs it. That's the whole idea.
What to Expect
Women's clothingWe have the most of this. Everything from everyday basics to special pieces, across a wide range of sizes and styles.
Men's clothingContributed by Switch Society members throughout the year, sorted and ready to go.
Kids' clothingSorted by size and labeled so you can find what you need quickly. All ages, all seasons.
End-of-life itemsRipped, stained, worn through. Still useful as cleaning rags, work clothes, or raw fabric for makers.
Upcycle-ready piecesItems with great bones that just need a little creativity. Quilters and makers come specifically for these.
CommunityNeighbors, families, makers, and volunteers all in one space. It feels like exactly what it is: a community taking care of itself.
For Switch Society Members
Family Swap runs on what Switch Society members bring in. Members contribute men's and children's items throughout the year, and those pieces are what stock each event.
If you're a member and want to contribute to Family Swap, bring your men's and children's items separated, counted, sorted, and labeled in bags. For example: "Boys 3T, 25 pieces." You'll receive one point per item, and those pieces go directly into the next Family Swap event.
Become a MemberWhen & Where
Family Swap follows a seasonal cadence. Specific dates and locations are posted on your city's page as events are confirmed.
A fresh start for the season. Great time to clear out winter items and find spring and summer pieces for the whole family.
Timed to help families get ready for the school year. Kids' clothing is especially well-stocked at this event.
The biggest event of the year. A community alternative to the shopping frenzy, and a chance to give and receive in the same breath.
Our Impact
Since Switch Society opened its doors in Billings, Family Swap has put clothing into the hands of unhoused individuals, underserved families, makers, quilters, tradespeople, and neighbors who just needed something. Every piece counts.
